Acquiring Talent with Sense of Urgency Remains a Challenge

Tony Scotto

In the recent years, the industry has displayed an active inclination towards cloud and the increasing threat of security breaches. Both will evolve and take shape; however in the latter case it is critical that we anticipate and stay a step ahead. The technology which is not satisfactorily being met by current solutions present by vendors is impenetrable security. Therefore, it seems that every week there is a high profile breach of some sort with customer data compromised.

The complexity of the systems and the overall ecosystem in which they are deployed make customer-vendor testing or verification partnerships increasingly critical.

Challenges to Tackle

The most critical challenge that the firm encounters is constantly facing search for talent, especially in a company that is growing and needs great people. In regard to this, seldom does the order of the requested work match the business need. Therefore, being able to work through that and  identify those items that positively impact the business is critical. Adding to these concerns, the three biggest issues that the enterprise is facing business leaders today are acquiring talent, making decisions quickly and being able to lead change. Being a CTO, it is difficult to distinguish from others. However, to achieve that, some sort of change must be initiated, and to accomplish any of this, requires great people with a sense of urgency and courage.

Driving Innovation

At ACI Worldwide, the ultimate focus is on innovation and we believe innovation requires a tolerance for failure. It is necessary for people to understand how ideas progress, else it will appear as if ideas go into a black hole. In conclusion, there needs to be some form of recognition for those who put forth ideas, especially those ideas that help customers.
