Catalyst Commerce Systems: Pathway to Successful Oracle Implementations

Jeremy Lee,Owner, Catalyst Commerce SystemsJeremy Lee, Owner

As an Oracle Gold partner, Catalyst Commerce Systems has been the go-to partner for local Oracle implementations in Malaysia for over a decade now. Over the years, the company has helped numerous clients with successful implementations of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), ERP, and performance tuning activities for large-scale databases exceeding 10TB. Looking closely into the current marketplace, Jeremy Lee, Owner of Catalyst Commerce Systems, believes that the biggest challenge that most clients face is the lack of local expertise in terms of language and requirements knowledge to help them with their implementations. Leveraging the team’s combined experience of over 150 years in Oracle implementations, the company offers much needed consulting and support services to clients locally to help them with all phases of Oracle implementations and migrations. “Catalyst provides clients with local expertise assisting them from the initial stage till the implementation of the project.”

At the onset, Catalyst evaluates existing customer database and application infrastructure in place to meet management and company objectives. The company closely follows Oracle’s application implementation methodology to offer clients faster ROI and the highest degree of quality. Catalyst helps clients with documentation as well as documentation updates from time to time. “As a senior Oracle partner, we are one of the first partners in Malaysia to get access to the latest documentation,” says Lee.

The updates are immediately brought to the implementation team allowing the clients to comply with the most recent requirements.

From a tools perspective, the company works with the Oracle Application Testing Suite that enables performance testing before the actual implementation. For instance, if a customer has purchased the implementation for a server to support 1000 users; Catalyst will use the Oracle Application Testing Suite to test the performance of the server and check if it meets the client’s requirements. This minimizes any potential surprises for the clients when they go live. Catalyst also employs CSS to handle numerous configurations during the implementation phase. The tool enables them to capture configuration data and compare the data each time a change is made. To carry out projects successfully, the company also conducts training on Oracle implementations.

The company’s stellar consulting and support services have been testified time and again by numerous companies from various industries such as financial and healthcare. One such successful implementation was one of the Ramsay Medical Centre and Renesas Malaysia, where Catalyst enabled them to revamp from their existing version of Oracle EBS to the latest one for their local facilities, in addition to assisting WorleyParsons, a large mining company where Catalyst helped them upgrade from their existing version of Oracle EBS to the latest one for their local facilities. Similarly, the company has also assisted large fabric manufacturers.

Lee also points out the importance of retaining data in the future. “Moving forward, there is a need to keep old data for compliance based on Malaysian government regulations purposes and keeping the data on-premise has its own challenges. Hence, it is crucial for clients to move to the cloud instead of worrying about their IT infrastructure. Our vast knowledge of Oracle products has given us a leading edge to enable customers transition from Oracle on-premise to cloud ERP, which is a complex system requiring integration work.” Additionally, Catalyst offers its custom solution for archival and retrieval of data that allows a customer to archive as well as retrieve data whenever they wish to do so. The company is planning to offer its cloud-based archival and retrieval solution to make it more cost-effective for clients to solve their data problem.
